Issue 4 launch party – 20 September

Saturday morning at Porch and Parlour, North Bondi

I don’t think it’s possible to get a better breakfast. Porch and Parlour.

Weddings, parties, anything

With the release of the new issue and the general feelings of mirth and TGIS (thank god it’s spring) that come upon us during jasmine season, there are so many parties and events and launches and festivals and things happening, so here’s a list of stuff that Ampersand is doing over the next month or so in the physical realm.

14 September – Outspoken #10, Fbi Social Kings Cross
The best in Sydney poetics shines a bit of light on Ampersand, where we’ll be giving away free copies and selling some too. Organised by the great Jess Cook, Ampersand contributor and heir apparent to the Clover Moore throne.
Facebook event here.

20 September Issue 4 launch at the State Library of NSW
In the ballroom no less. Hosted by ABC’s Jennifer Byrne and featuring readings by contributors Thomas Henning, Nick Coyle, Jess Cook and Adam Jasper Smith. Drinks and chats and laughs. Free. What more do you people want?
Facebook event here.

30 September – National Young Writers’ Festival, Newcastle
Alice Gage will be a panelist on ‘Don’t Press Send: Editor-Writer Relationships’ panel.  Friday, 2pm
Alice has also inexplicably been asked to chair the ‘Super Sad True Pomo Love Story: Writing Earnest Fictional Romance in the Ironic Age’ panel.

7 October – Ampersand Magazine and The Suitcase Royale present Potluck, Fbi Social, Kings Cross: Bush Ballads
Taking a leaf from the bushy current issue, we will be putting on a hootananny with The Suitcase Royale the only way we know how – with R.M. Williams, Drizabones and non-ironic recitals of bush poetry. Featuring Nick Coyle, Eddie Sharp, Charlie Garber and others.

Some time in late October – Issue 4 launch in Melbourne
More to come.
