Capture The Fade winners announced

Ampersand editors and guest judge Bill Henson are very pleased to announce the winners of our inaugural photography competition, Capture The Fade.

The photographs will be reproduced in the Capture The Fade spread in the next issue of Ampersand, ‘The Fade’, due out in February 2011. They will also be exhibited at the Paper Mill Gallery, Sydney, opening on the 17th November 2010 and running for two weeks. Mr Henson will be speaking at the opening on ‘The Fade’  and announcing the overall winner.

There was a tremendous response to our call for submissions, in both number (almost a thousand entries from around the world) and in the quality of entries.

Congratulations to all who entered the competition – we are extremely proud of the collection. The works are emotive, personal, funny, stark and immensely creative. They offer an insight into contemporary trends in photographic art, and function as a kind of archive of current thought.

There are 15 winners as chosen by Bill Henson and 17 photographs, with two photographers gaining two winning shots. There are also 9 Highly Commended works as chosen by Ampersand editors.

So without further ado, the winners.
